Experience:

Walter ("Walt") Stafford has many years of experience with federal and state securities issues, public and private offerings of debt and equity, mergers and acquisitions and complex business transactions. Walt practiced with Pillsbury Madison & Sutro for over 25 years, including several years managing the firm's Los Angeles office. From 1995 through 2002, Walt was Senior Executive Vice President and revered counsel of CB Richard Ellis, a New York Stock Exchange Company and the world's largest real estate services company. White at CB Richard Ellis, Walt managed more than twenty significant mergers and acquisitions including the international acquisition by CB Richard Ellis of REI International and Hiller Parker Ltd. In 2001 he represented CB Richard Ellis in its going private transaction with Blum Capital Management and during 2002 he was the primary lawyer for CB Richard Ellis in its negotiation with respect to a pan-European outsourcing (facilities management) agreement with Deutsche Bank. From 1983 to 1989 Walt was Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of a major medical device manufacturer and New York Stock Exchange corporation. He served as Assistant Minority counsel to the United States House Committee on Ways and Means (1967-1968) and has also specialized in executive compensation arrangements and employee benefits. Walt is familiar with the laws which affect international real estate transactions in the U.S. including the International Investment and Trade Act of 1976, the Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act of 1986 and the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982. Since joining BZTM, Walt has been responsible for numerous mergers, acquisitions, asset purchases and sales, and a variety of private debt and equity placements.
